The Bremer County Historical Society met Tuesday evening, the 16th of May at 7 PM at the museum. Seven board members were present: Lindell, Mackamul, Heinemann, Magnall, Buls, Blanchard, Everding. Absent: Drenkow, Robinson, Hoodjer, Hoffman, Meyer.
Minutes of the April meeting were approved. Heinemann then read the Treasurer’s Report for Hoffman. Balance in checking was $13,426.03. A grant from Casey's was received for upstair motion lights. Two minor adjustments in wording were made and then the treasurer's report was accepted.
Curator's Report: Three 4th grade classes have gone through the museum since last month. Lindell will do one last email to teachers and then we will resume in the fall. More money was used on supplies than expected.
Election of officers: Since the V.Pres. and treasurer were absent, the motion to elect officers only included the secretary. The motion was made by Buls and seconded by Blanchard to re-elect Mackamul as secretary. The President and other positions will be dealt with in June. Lindell will still volunteer even though he is leaving the board.
New Business: Blanchard showed off a possible product to hand out with memberships. It was a charm with a date on it. She will check on what the minimum quantity is to order. Buls suggested ordering them without the date and having Tennebaums engrave the backs. A quarterly newsletter would be good in the future to put out.
Gutter project: Mackamul is in the process of lining up a new contractor for the project. D&G did not want the job anymore since they are too busy.
Heritage Days: The board decided on having a float this year on July 15th with old-time games on it.
Knitting Classes: Blanchard reported the classes are 4 weeks long. 4-5 people are coming.
Bremer County Fair: The board decided to set-up again at the Log Cabin. It will be the 140th anniversary of the fair.
Next meeting will be held Tuesday, June 13th at 7 PM at the museum.
Motion to adjourn at 8:05 PM by Heinemann. Second by Blanchard. All approved.
