The Bremer County Historical Society met Tuesday evening, the 13th of June at 7 PM at Kathy Magnall's home. Nine board members were present: Mackamul, Heinemann, Magnall, Buls, Blanchard, Meyer, Robinson, Hoffman, Everding. Absent: Drenkow and Hoodjer.
Robinson filled in for absent Vice-President Drenkow since no President was elected at the May meeting.
Minutes of the May meeting were approved. Motion made by Blanchard and seconded by Everding. All approved.
Treasurer's Report was read by Hoffman. Balance in checking was $13,406.02. The Life Membership account future was discussed. No decision was made. Heinemann made the motion to approve the report. Magnall made the second. All approved.
Curator's Report: Heinemann told about the details involved with the National Park POW display. The board decided not to pursue the display.
Arrangements have been made with Renee Neil for the Bremer County Fair. The Historical Society will be sharing the cabin with the Genealogy Society, Poor Farm Foundation, and possibly one other group.
Other Business: Blanchard reported that she has not heard about the grant request for a dehumidifier for the basement.
Gutter Project: Mackamul has not heard back on the Gurnsey Grant or the new bid.
Charms: Blanchard reported that 100 are the minimum quantity. Prices drop with higher quantity. They are a shiny nickel material. The year engraving can be done locally. Mackamul suggested ordering a quantity the board advised and using Tennebaum's for the engraving. Robinson advised to delay the decision.
Officer Positions: Blanchard made the motion to re-elect Hoffman as treasurer for one more term. Buls made the second. Motion carried. President and VP were discussed. Blanchard made the motion to elect Robinson for VP. Everding made the second. Motion carried.
Other positions: Curator - Jan Heinemann. Motion by Magnall. Second by Hoffman. All approved. Membership Secretary, Nominating Committee Chairperson, and Co-director were tabled until the next meeting. Volunteer Coordinator - Jan Heinemann. Motion by Blanchard. Seconded by Magnall. All approved. Web Page Master - P.Blanchard. Motion by Buls. Seconded by Hoffman. All approved.
Heritage Days: Float is coming together. Thursday, before that weekend, at 2 PM was set to finish the float, at Jan's house. Parade is July 15th. Theme is Playground fun.
Amendments: Robinson reported to the board that he has filed the amendments that were approved at the May meeting to the State.
