Speaker Circuit Project: Everding gave a report. This was an idea on how to reach out to more of the county. She visited all 7 libraries in Bremer County. Tripoli is the only one without a meeting room. The libraries would help advertise each museum program. Possibly we would serve refreshments at each program. We would organize the speakers and pay them $100 per speaking engagement. Motion was made by Buls and seconded by Blanchard to continue with the Speaker Circuit Programming.
Grant Report: Mackamul reported that the Wal-mart grant money has not been used. The board felt the grant could go towards the Speaker’s Circuit programming or Matt’s project.
Mackamul will apply with the Bremer County Community Foundation grant for the cash match part of the Engineering Study for the East Wall.
Articles of Incorporation changes was tabled by Everding and seconded by Hoffman. Motion carried.
Other Business: Everding told about Benevity. It is a clearinghouse for donations from larger corporations. If we set up BCHS, then corporations can match funds from other donors. Huser reported that Cedar Valley United Way uses it. Blanchard will create an account.
Facebook: Blanchard talked about who to target and the radius. Facebook will let you run reports. Rotary is having a training session on Facebook that Bill Hamm is setting up. One suggestion was to post one thing a day on facebook. 300 people follow the BCHS facebook currently. Hoot suite is a service that will schedule postings. Go Fund Me could be used to raise money for smaller items at the museum.
Easton Buls left the meeting early.
Gutter Update: Mackamul had a quote on replacing the rusted gutter that was left out of the original project. There was not quorum to hold a vote on a motion.
E-Newsletter: Blanchard showed a 3 page E-newsletter. Everding suggested holding off until April for a vote on whether to add that to our membership benefits.
April 10th is the next meeting at 7 PM to be held at the museum.
