Organizational Overview
The Bremer County Historical Society Museum is owned, operated, and maintained by the Bremer County Historical Society, a nonprofit organization made up entirely of dedicated volunteers from across Bremer County, Iowa.
As a volunteer-run organization, we are always eager to welcome new volunteers. Opportunities are available in all areas, including janitorial and building maintenance, docent services, research, event support, and service on the board or committees. If you have an interest in helping preserve and share local history, we encourage you to contact us.
Our Mission
The mission of the Bremer County Historical Society is to kindle and sustain an interest in local history by collecting, preserving, and sharing materials related to Bremer County’s past.
General Information
The Bremer County Historical Society Museum is located at 402 W. Bremer Avenue in Waverly, Iowa. The museum building was originally constructed in 1862 as the Daily House Hotel using native lumber and locally fired brick. It was later renamed the Waverly House and continued to operate as a hotel before becoming home to the museum.
Visit Us
The museum is open to the public from May through October.
Tuesday–Thursday: 1:00–4:00 p.m.
Friday–Saturday: 1:00–4:30 p.m.
Special and off-season tours are available by appointment.
