Bremer County Historical Society helps preserve the story of Bremer County and share it with the community through exhibits, programs, and local artifacts. It has been preserving local history since 1958 and its museum in Waverly is housed in a historic building originally built in 1862 as the Daily House Hotel, later known as the Waverly House. With over 8,000 square feet of artifacts and exhibits, the museum offers a rich look at the people, places, and stories that shaped Bremer County.

Built in 1855–1856, the Ira Sturdevant House is one of Waverly’s oldest surviving homes. It offers a glimpse into the city’s earliest pioneer days and helps preserve the story of the Sturdevant family and early settlement in Bremer County.

The Readlyn Museum preserves the story of Readlyn and its people through local artifacts, photographs, and community history. Created by the Readlyn Historical Society, it offers a glimpse into the town’s past and keeps local memories alive for future generations.

The Poor Farm Foundation preserves the history of the former Bremer County Poor Farm, a place that once gave shelter, food, and care to local residents during hard times. Today, it helps keep that story alive by protecting the site and sharing its important place in Bremer County history.

Memories Are Forever preserves the history of Sumner and the surrounding area through exhibits, memorabilia, and local stories. Housed in a historic 1901 school building, the museum features The Waverly Area Veterans Post honors and supports local veterans while serving as a gathering place for the community. Through tributes, memorial programs, events, and outreach, it helps preserve the stories and service of those who have served our country.filled with community history, with a special emphasis on military and agricultural heritage.
