History Detectives
Fall 2026 Classes

Come explore local history through hands-on experiences that connect the past to science, geography, language arts, and world history. Four unique classes will take your family on an adventure where learning comes alive through discovery, problem-solving, creativity, and real stories from Bremer County’s past. COST is $5.00 PER CHILD PER CLASS. You do not have to attend all classes.

Back to School: One-Room Schoolhouse
Step back in time and experience what school was like in a one-room schoolhouse. Explore lessons, activities, and everyday life while discovering how education has changed through the years. September 25, 10-11:30 AM.

History Detectives: Crack the Case
Put your problem-solving skills to work and become a history detective! Work together to solve clues, uncover local stories, and crack the case through an exciting escape-room-style adventure based on Bremer County history. Friday, October 30, 10–11:30 AM.

Young Heroes: Stories of Service
Honor the veterans of Bremer County by learning about the young men and women who left their homes, families, and communities to serve during times of war. Discover their stories and gain a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made by local families. Friday, November 13,10-11:30

A Pioneer Christmas
Step into the holiday season of the past with a pioneer Christmas. Create traditional crafts, explore historic holiday traditions, and try recipes inspired by Christmas celebrations from another time. Take the experience home and continue the tradition with your family. Friday,December 18, 10-11:30 AM

Registration is $5.00 per class, per student, and advance registration is required.

After submitting the registration form, click “Make a Payment” to pay the $5.00 fee per person and confirm your spot.

All registration fees help cover the cost of the program and support the operational expenses of the Bremer County Historical Society.
