The museum is a true Bremer County Treasure! I want to know how to support it!!Donate using Paypal to bremercountyhistoricalsociety@gmail.com Donate using VenMo @BCHS50677 Become a Historical Society member! Visit often and bring friends! Buy things from our Gift Shop! Buy things from our November Flea Market booth at The Centre! Volunteer! Encourage your employer to take a collection (casual day?) to benefit the museum! Find out if your employer has a workplace volunteer program or employer - supported volunteer program. Your Volunteer hours could earn us a monetary donation from your employer! Sponsor a room, a month or the upkeep or restoration of an artifact! So many ways to support!

What can I expect when I visit the museum?1. You can expect to pay a minimal admission. (You will be helping to keep the lights on.) 2. You can currently expect a self-led tour. (If we are able to provide you with a tour guide, we will, but normally don't have enough volunteers to do so) 3. You can expect to see vignette rooms. 4. You can expect to see artifacts from all over Bremer County. (This is a COUNTY museum) 5. You can expect a quiet and leisurely self-guided pace. 6. With three floors and over 8000 sq feet you can expect it to be far more than what you thought. 7. You can expect two flights of stairs if you go to all three floors. (We are working on getting a working elevator.)

I'd like to volunteer but....Yes, we ALL have a but... What can you do from home? Can you locate and write up grants? Can you research and put together a book or pamphlet? Can you scan images at high resolution? Can you type up handwritten minutes from the early years of the society? (We use Google Docs) What about when you are at Walmart (or shopping online)... Pack of toilet tissue An extra pack of bottled water Paper towels An air cleaner A dehumidifier LED lightbulbs Printer paper Envelopes Cleaning supplies Hand Soap How about when you are ordering from Amazon... can you add a couple of products to your order for the museum? Do you sell on eBay? You can automatically donate to BCHS when your item sells. Things to do at the museum... Light cleaning & dusting Watering the plants, pulling weeds Shovel snow (in the winter) Inventory & Photograph Artifacts (this must be done at the museum) Handyman/Handywoman for small maintenance jobs Electrician/Plumber/HVAC Accountant/Book-keeper (eventually to take the Treasurer job) Attorney (familiar with non-profit law would be ideal) Someone proficient in building display cabinets People to assist the Fundraising team, Marketing team, Events team, Education team, Membership team, Collections team, Finance team, Building team, etc. We need a writer, someone who can create articles for print and internet posts. We are looking for people to give video tours so we can upload them to our website. Looking for someone who can take the video as well. Someone willing to do IT for us We will eventually need replacement board members. Individuals need to volunteer for a year prior to applying to be a board member. We do have term limits as well. President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and 3-6 other members of the board Introducing visitors to the museum and being available at the museum during your allotted time. 1pm to 4pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 1pm to 4:30pm Friday and Saturday. (We would happily increase our hours and days if we have volunteers to cover) May through October Only! There are a ton of ways to help without being a board member or tour guide. :)
